Listening safety

This page exists as a page, not as a paragraph at the bottom of something else. Read it before a first session.

01

While listening

  • Use a comfortable volume. Structured audio does not need to be loud, and a long session at a high level carries the same hearing risk as any other sustained sound.
  • Stop if you experience discomfort, distress, dizziness, headache, nausea, or any other unwanted effect. Stopping is always the correct response; there is no benefit to continuing through it.
  • Do not use audio sessions when full environmental attention is required — while driving, cycling, operating machinery, or supervising anyone whose safety depends on you.

02

Visual material

Visual stimulus that varies over time carries a declared rate and a static alternative. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, or have ever had a seizure of unknown cause, use the static alternative and speak to a doctor before using time-varying visual material.

03

Where the boundary is

Fluctara is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you have a health concern, the person to consult is a clinician.

If you are under the care of a clinician for a neurological, psychiatric, cardiac, or hearing condition, or if you are pregnant, ask them before starting. This is not because a specific risk has been demonstrated; it is because your clinician knows your situation and this software does not.

04

Reporting something

If something happened during a session that you think others should know about, write to protoscience@anulum.li. Reports are read by a person.
