creativity Alpha band
Creative Flow State
8 Hz beat · 432 Hz carrier · 4 phases · 40 min · intermediate
Forty minutes at the slow edge of alpha, right against the theta boundary — the most ambiguous rate in the catalogue, chosen on purpose.
The beat and carrier in the heading are the main phase — the part of the session it was built around. They are not what plays for the whole length. Every programme here opens in the alpha band, wherever it is going afterwards, and most come back up before they finish. The full phase plan is on this page, and it is the honest picture of what you would actually hear.
Hear it
Thirty seconds rendered at the parameters of the phase named above — not an excerpt cut from a finished file, because sessions are built to order and yours does not exist yet. The figures the player draws are computed from the audio or from plate mathematics; none of them is a measurement of your hearing.
What this actually is
Eight hertz is the floor of the alpha band. One step slower and it would be theta and this would be a meditation programme. Sitting exactly on the boundary is the whole idea of it.
Alpha runs from eight to thirteen hertz. It is the most-studied band in the consumer category and the one people usually mean when they say brainwave audio, which also makes it the band with the most overstated marketing around it.
The full phase plan
Four phases across forty minutes, and it spends its middle sitting on the alpha-theta boundary rather than crossing it decisively: ten hertz, then 7.83, then eight for the twenty-minute main block, then twelve to finish. The whole session moves through a range of about four hertz, which is narrow — the ambiguity is the point, not the distance travelled.

Where the 432 Hz carrier comes from
Alternative concert pitch. An alternative tuning for the A above middle C. Verdi argued for a pitch near this value in the 1880s, and an Italian decree of the period adopted it.
The historical argument about orchestral pitch is real and documented. The modern claims that 432 hertz differs from 440 in its effect on a listener are not established, and we make none.
The carrier is the pitch you actually hear. The binaural difference — the part that makes this a structured session rather than a tone — lives between the two channels and is set by the beat, not by the carrier. Choosing one carrier over another is a tonal choice, the way picking a key is a tonal choice. It is not a functional one.
What this does not claim
Creativity is not something we can affect and not something we would know how to measure. The name describes the use somebody might put it to. Same caution as the focus programmes: cognitive claims are the weakest ground in this whole category.
Who it is for
Open-ended work with no defined finish. It is not built for a deadline.
Nothing here is for sale yet. These are the starting points a session can be built from, published so you can see the whole range before anything is priced.
